Children's Oral Sedation
It is common for children to dread going to the dentist. However, some kids have real anxiety or phobia about sitting in the dental chair. This can be a major obstacle when it comes to receiving necessary pediatric dental care, both now and in the years to come. To ensure your child’s smile never suffers due to their anxiety or fear, Alora Pediatric Dentistry proudly offers children’s oral sedation at our Napa Valley dentist office.
Oral sedation allows your child to remain calm and relaxed so that needed dental work can be performed, and it also gives them the rewarding experience they deserve at the dental office. We believe in creating a comfortable visit for each and every patient that walks through our doors. Our office is stocked with kid-friendly amenities, a caring staff and other services to put your child at ease. When our soothing environment and compassionate approach are not enough, we recommend using oral sedation. Rest assured that our oral sedation for kids is very safe and does not involve being “fully under.”
Oral Sedation for a Relaxing Dental Experience
Oral sedation is used for children who are anxious about the dentist or who have trouble sitting still during dental treatments. There are a variety of sedation methods that can be used to relax your child in a safe and effective way, from oral syrup to nitrous oxide inhalation. These types of sedative methods allow your child to remain fully relaxed but able to communicate with our dental team, if needed. When using nitrous oxide or “laughing gas”, the effects will wear off within minutes of removing the nosepiece or mask.
Regardless the severity of your child’s dental anxiety or other special need, we never want dental care at Alora Pediatric Dentistry to be a stressful or traumatic experience. From an early age, we want to establish a positive association with dental care. This fosters healthier and more confident smiles through all phases of life. If you think oral sedation can help your child have a better dental visit, we urge you to consider it.
